Newborn Baby Photography .

So…on the side I have recently begun working for a company photographing newborn babies in the hospital. I feel like saying that I’m doing that has a not so great stigma attached to it. I have to admit that I’m enjoying it though and these aren’t the newborn photos that we had as babies. Digital photography has made oh so many things much easier nowadays. I thought I’d share a few here every once in a while. Babies are adorable and I really don’t think I could ask for better photo material to work with. I also feel that I’m learning a lot about babies, which I’m sure is something that I will find to be entirely untrue if I ever have a baby of my own and need to spend more than 10-15 minutes with him or her at a time. :-)

Anywho, here are just a few of my favorites, I will probably share more as time passes.

The open eye babies amaze me. When they’re wide awake and checking everything out and seem to be taking it all in at 24 hours old…crazy.

This baby was perfectly content as long as her dad was holding her. I love how little she looks in his hands.

This one cracks me up. She was actually a very sweet baby, but I definitely feel like she’s giving me a dirty look in this one. :-)

She had big eyes the whole time I was shooting and barely cried at all. So adorable.

Let us hope for lots more happy babies so that I have more to share. :-)

William & Charlie .

walk

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of spending the morning with William, Charlie and their awesome parents, Tom and Christine. We did some playing at the park near their house before heading off to Linvilla Orchards to shoot there for a bit. Even though, as Tom predicted, Charlie had had enough by the end of the shoot, I think both little guys did great for the hour + that we shot.

I couldn’t resist this early morning glow as we made our way to the park. Then, the playing ensued and I was just along for the ride. It’s funny how different photographing kids is from aaany other kind of photo session. Especially at this age, forget posing, they set all the rules. :-)

William got to play in Dad’s race car for a bit. I think the helmet might be a little big. :-)

Before heading out again, we gave the kids some time to wind down and warm up. Love some of these moments as they all sat on the couch together.

PUMPKINS!

hehe. It looks like Charlie is getting into character here, but really he’s pushing with all his might to not put his head in that hole. He was not too thrilled. I think the tongue sticking out is the perfect touch though.

Ummm…let’s see…do you think Charlie was maxed out on photos? I love the moment anyway.

And finally, the highlight of the day! COOKIES! They were a big hit and no one cared about the camera at all.

I had such a blast with these little guys and I’m so excited to see how much they’ve grown by our Spring session. Will Charlie like me and my camera more or less? We’ll have to see! ;-)

Alex & Michael: Engagement .

_MG_7029

A few weeks ago, Alex and Michael and I got together to do some engagement photos at the beautiful Ridley Creek State Park. I love shooting there because there’s so much variety, the mansion and woods and fields and even a horse stable area. Alex and Michael were cute and funny together, which always makes my job easier. We did a loop of the grounds and anything I suggested they were totally up for.

We took a walk in the woods for a bit.

We shot by the mansion for a while and I made them climb into this awesome tree. Not that they complained. I think they look so cool in there! And I love how Alex’s hair is catching the breeze. :-)

I love the moody feel in this little mansion nook.

I don’t think I’d mind living here at all.

I think Alex looks just plain hot in this one.

And my favs…the field. I have to give Alex and Michael a special thank you for agreeing to sit in this field. Let’s just say that there was more poop on the ground around here than one would typically care for. I think it was totally worth it though!

Alex and Michael, thank you…I can’t wait for your Awesome (capital A) wedding in January. :-)

Sharon and Robbie: Wedding .

Robbie and Sharon had traditional South Indian Syrian Orthodox Christian ceremony, and it was just as awesome as the name might lead you to believe. I was especially looking forward to shooting this wedding since the three of us had such a fun day exploring Washington D.C. for their engagement session. Oh, and I absolutely have to mention how I will forever love Robbie and Sharon for displaying this photo:

at their reception. Love it! :-)

Their wedding day was full of tradition and family and friends and COLOR! Not to mention my favorite groom, first glimpse of bride, reaction ever.

But first things first…when I showed up, Sharon couldn’t have been more relaxed. She was listening to her ipod and getting made up and greeting bridesmaids as they arrived. It was a great atmosphere.

Hehe…adorable flower girls.

When Sharon appeared at the back of the church with her dad, Robbie’s eyes immediately filled with tears and he had to look away, fighting them back. I love the expression on his face. Such a great moment.

Time for posed photos was extremely limited, but we managed to grab a few in front of this awesome old piano near the church, before heading off to the reception.

Robbie, Sharon and their bridal party performed a choreographed dance right after the first dance. It was…um…awesome! It ended with them being engulfed in a sea of family and friends. I would like to request that any future brides do this sort of dancing because it makes for great moments.

Thank you Robbie and Sharon…and enjoy!
